Year 8
Behind the Screen
A Year 8 Digital Awareness, Influence and Responsibility Workshop
Behind the Screen helps students develop a deeper understanding of how the online world influences their thoughts, choices and behaviours. Through interactive discussions and real-life examples, students explore the hidden forces shaping their digital experiences, including algorithms, persuasive design and the increasing role of artificial intelligence.
The workshop examines online influence, digital habits, personal responsibility and the balance between rights and responsibilities online. Students will explore the legal and ethical implications of AI-generated content, understand how personal information can be used and shared, and consider where freedom of expression crosses into harmful or unlawful behaviour. By the end of the session, students will be better equipped to think critically about the content they encounter and make informed, responsible choices online.
